About this work
On 6 January 2018, an Iranian tanker collided with a cargo ship just off the shores of China. Burning for over a week, and without any bodies recovered, all crew members were assumed to be deceased in an inevitable accident. Still to this date, the weirdness of such a calamity and the fate of the crew members are trapped in an air of paranoia. Impersonating the performativity of on the ground state reportage, this story confuses the dependency on the oil industry in Iran’s modern history and the necropolitics inflamed by it.
